Timing Belts / Cambelts

Signs that you may need to replace your cambelt (also known as the timing belt):

  • Ticking sound when you start the car – this can mean that your cambelt has stretched or worn
  • Your car won’t start – this can be because a broken cambelt is not allowing the engine to get going

If you experience either of these or if you haven’t had your cambelt replaced for a while, get in touch with the team at Wilbury Bodyshop, MOT & Service Centre. Most manufacturers recommend having your cambelt replaced at anything between 40,000 and 100,000 miles or between 4 and 6 years. There is no definitive mileage or time period. If you are at all concerned about the condition of your cambelt, bring your car into our workshop in Hitchin, and we’ll check it out, report back and of course, we can replace it if required.
